I've installed this 3 months ago and have been using it since. This is my review using it in cold weather.
Pros:
1)So far the range is exponentially better than the OEM fob. Which was my primary reason for this purchase.
In direct line-of-sight I am able to get over 300m. The OEM fob barely had 10ft.
2)When you perform the tach learning procedure(most reliable method), the engine confidently starts-up every time. In -40°F/C weather the starter limits itself to a 5 sec crank and then stops to cool down (or let the battery voltage rise again) before trying again up to a max of 3 times. A smart move by the designers.
3) When you auto-start, the previous HVAC settings along with the previous seat heater positions are turned on after starting up. The radio/headlights remain off. This is a very smart design and I wasn't even aware of this until I first used it. Its very handy as it can melt ice of the windshield as long as the defrost button was left on last, along with pre-warming the seats.
Cons.
1) When you auto-start, the parking lights come on and all 4 doors unlock while the vehicle attempts to start. When the engine runs, the doors lock again. (This takes a min. of 4-5 seconds). I was not made aware of this requirement. This was my main reason for the missing star (I would've given 3 stars but so far everything else has been fine.) This forces you to be extra cautious about where you park and anything thats left inside the car while you park. The vehicle can audibly be heard unlocking itself along with the parking lights flashing. A significant security flaw if you ask me. This kit markets itself toward DIY'ers, they typically would not have the knowledge that this a requirement for older vehicles. This flaw should've been made visible during purchase of the kit.
2) I would only recommend installing if you have experience removing vehicle trim. The older the vehicle, the higher chance you have of snapping brittle plastic tabs. I had to fiddle around alot to figure out which pieces needed to come out and how. There are no instructions on what pieces to remove in order to access the wiring.
3) The photos given of the wiring locations are not really HD, its forced into a PDF which doesn't scale well with detail.
4) Theres a significant excess of cable wires that are just not needed.
There are no instructions on how to get rid of them or even if you're supposed to get rid of them. It can be very confusing when you're done installing but still have a huge amount of untouched wiring left. The instructions make no mention of what to do with them.
5) The kit comes with a safety hood switch and the wiring with it. However the 2004+ TLs already have this switch built-in. It was a waste of my time installing this and waste of resources on MPC's part. The instructions inform you thats its recommended to be added but it is not needed at all as the module knows via the cars computer.
5) There is a "(+) Ignition 2" wire and an "OEM remote wire" that it states should be hooked up, however I was later emailed that these wires are not related to my kit and have no connection point. This can be very confusing and can cause a significant delay during installation by a full additional day as email responses can be 24 hours.
6) The instructions don't point out any spots where to store the 2, somewhat large modules. (I ended up jamming them with sticky pads right behind the mirror adjustment button).
Overall I'm happy with this product except the security flaw and confusing installation. (Give yourself at least 2 full days if this is your first time). The kit came with everything needed (minus electrical tape and basic tools). I would recommend giving the kit to a professional to install if you have no experience removing trim, basic electric work experience or don't have 2 full days to kill. This kit can be upgraded after installation to a 2-way fob (longer range) or a GPS-enabled app. Be mindful that the 2-way kit will have a shorter battery life and will need to be recharged. Hope this helps.
