With the MyCar app interface on your Smartphone and a quick install of the plug-in module, you will wirelessly connect to your vehicle through your phone or Apple watch! You can use your phone or watch just like you had been using your key fob. Start your car from practically anywhere you have cell service in our T-Mobile coverage area. You can also now track (or locate!) your car with our GPS feature, lock or unlock it, and check your battery status. If you never knew you needed this app - here are just a few reasons why.
Why You Need a Remote-start App
I have a terrible habit of leaving my purse, along with my keys, in my car. I have recently discovered that my new remote key fob is highly sensitive. My husband has one on his keychain, and every time he puts his keys in his pocket, my car doors lock. This causes great stress for me. I KNOW I shouldn’t leave my keys in the car. But it is a long-established habit. My hands are usually full with kids, groceries, phone, and such. Grabbing my purse (and keys) seems unnecessary. We live far out in the country, and I park in the garage; why carry more things in the house than I need?
Easy Access
This is where my remote start app comes in. I have gotten better at not leaving my keys in the car, but this app has come to my rescue several times. Upon seeing my doors locked, all I have to do is open the app and click “un-lock doors.” I’m sure you can imagine how handy this will be anytime you lock your keys in the car. Gone are the days of forcing a wire coat hanger through the window or waiting for a locksmith. As long as you have your phone, you can access your vehicle.
You might think, I don’t leave my keys in my car, why would I need an app for that? So many reasons! The app has a MUCH farther range than your remote. As long as you have a signal, there is no limit. If you want, you can unlock your car from overseas - or an airplane - or the middle of the lake. I haven’t needed to do this, but I can see it would be cool. Just think, the airport shuttle drops you and your family off next to your car in the airport parking lot. Your car started, defrosted, and ready for your cold, exhausted family. (You also open the trunk remotely, of course.) The other frazzled passengers look on in admiration at your technical prowess.
Easily Locate your Vehicle
In addition to the remote start, the app also includes GPS. If you are like me and tend to forget where you parked, this will be a lifesaver. Your phone can guide you right to your vehicle. The GPS also provides a comfort level, knowing that you could locate your car if stolen or needed to be found.
Winter Weather
One of the most valuable uses for this app is during freezing weather. If you park outdoors, being able to start your car with your phone remotely can be such a relief—no more trudging through the bitter cold and snow to defrost or scrape the ice. If you look out the window of your highrise office building and see your windshield coated in ice, simply remote start your engine and defroster. Doing this is much safer than trying to drive when you can’t see out the window and much easier than trying to scrape ice off your windshield.
We Love Alexa!
Our family has quickly grown accustomed to using our Alexa echo and dots. Throughout the day, we talk to Alexa to turn on lights, adjust the thermostat, see who is at the front door, play music, and answer various trivia or homework questions. Using Alexa takes some getting used to, but now that I can do things like telling her to add something to my grocery list, she is becoming more and more useful, essential even. Now, you can have Alexa or Google start your car and warm it up or cool it off, all while you make lunches for the kids! If you have young children, you’ll appreciate this voice command option. Finding something on your phone is a little more challenging with a toddler in your arms. You can cool the car for your little one on a hot, sunny day: no more burning metal seat belts or scorching leather seats. Start your car, and get it cool while wrestling with the baby’s diaper bag and various necessities.
